The Revitalization of Downtown Las Vegas

February 13th, 2013 2:58 PM by Scott Sakata

Las Vegas has been considered the 9th island for Hawaii residents. I myself go to Las Vegas at least once a year. With so much happening on the Strip, Downtown Las Vegas has the image of being an old, rundown area.

But thanks in large part to a $350 million initiative from Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com, the revitalization of Downtown Las Vegas is beginning to take shape.

I recently came across some great articles and videos of what's recently happened in Downtown Las Vegas.

Check out downtownproject.com to read more about the mission and vision.

Take a Walk Through Downtown Las Vegas with Zach Ware, one of the one of the most prominent characters in the core group of people working around the clock to make the Downtown Project happen.

Finally an article from Forbes contributing editor Evan Kirkpatrick on some lessons he learned when he spent a few days with those groups involved in the changes. Read article here.

It got me thinking on how some of us here in Hawaii can be a part of this change. I will definitely research more on this.
